A new Apex Legends leak points to Portable Respawn Beacons coming to the game.
Respawn Entertainment has done a lot to advance the Battle Royale genre. They created a pinging system, a respawn system, improved communication, raised time-to-kill, and made several other improvements to one of the most popular game modes in recent years.
Many of the changes Respawn made to Apex Legends were implemented into other games like Fortnite and Call of Duty: Blackout.
It looks like Respawn is adding - or at least considering - another game-changing item to Apex Legends: the Respawn Beacon.
This leak comes via sound file from @That1MiningGuy on Twitter. We haven't seen any images or references to the new respawn beacon in the game files just yet, but we do have an audio file of a Wattson call-out.

There is a lot of information in the Apex Legends game files, and some of it is from before the game ever released. Since that is the case, many of the files in there will never make it into Apex Legends.
This sound file is a bit different, though. The fact that it's Wattson making the call-out and not another legend means that this item must have been added recently.
As far as the mechanics of this item are concerned, we can only guess. My best prediction would be that it has something to do with the future legend Crypto. The portable respawn beacon might be their ultimate ability for instance.
Apart from that, it's possible that these items will be around the map and players can interact with the Respawn Beacons and bring them along for the battle.
We'll have to wait and see as more information comes out.
