Clues from the upcoming Apex Legends Season 3 may point to a new planet and map for the next season.
Apex Legends Season 3 is less than a week away with a release date of October 1. All eyes are on the next season, and fans are speculating about what it will bring us.
We already have quite a bit of information about the new season, but most of the speculation focuses on the theme: Fire an Ice.
The name "Fire and Ice" was found in the game files ahead of the official announcement. We now know that Season 3 will be called "Meltdown," but some supporting information has led us to believe that fire and ice will still play a role.
Namely, the Italian Apex Legends website is promoting Season 3 with the tag, "Eliminate enemies and explore lava and ice scenarios."
When you add this to the American promotion, “Show off your skills in the new series of Ranked mode. Drop-in hot and put your enemies on ice!” it's enough to confirm that the map is going to have lava and ice elements.
When you combine all of this with the cryptic tweet from the clearly-hacked Apex Legends Twitter account, all signs point to the games moving to a new planet.
This message isn't what it seems on first glance. The real message Crypto is sending goes like this:
"As I'm sure you've heard, I took your advice and I went to the Games. It's the only way to get close to the people who framed me. All I had to do was distract the Syndicate long enough to get "Crypto's" credentials into the system. You were right about the qualifying matches. I looked into it, and there's no way I could have gotten in. So I went with Plan B: I took down the Repulsor tower. I had no idea it would be so insane. I'm hoping the damage was enough to close Kings Canyon, so I can hitch a ride on the dropship off Solace, and find the evidence I need somewhere in New Dawn.
"I just hope I see you one last time, and I don't get blown up before I go off-planet. (Sorry. Paranoia leads to gallows humor.) Thank you for always being the mom I needed. I'll be in touch. Try not to worry much. What's that you always say? It's hard to be scared when you're prepared.
Crypto is talking about going to a new planet after disrupting the games at Kings Canyon. This, plus the large-scale changes coming to the map is enough to get the theories moving about where Season 3 will be located.
If Respawn does add a new map to Apex Legends, it will likely be in place of the old one. Apex Legends cares more about the lore than games like PUBG - which has several rotating maps.
It could be that Respawn is going a different route than other battle royale games. Instead of updating the current map or adding a new one, they may replace the first map entirely.
